Emerging Applications

FIBRIL nanotubes are also the basis for a family of catalyst supports. The nanotubes are fused together to form a strong, highly mesoporous, open-cell structure that can outperform activated carbon as a support for precious-metal catalysts. A nanotube-based catalyst support can offer faster or more selective reactions. For more information on the use of FIBRIL nanotubes as a catalyst support please read these two papers.

Carbon Nanotubes as Catalyst Support (1.25MB PDF)

Other emerging applications for FIBRIL nanotubes include flat-panel displays, advanced batteries and fuel cells, and plastic reinforcement. We encourage you to contact Hyperion Catalysis if you would like to explore these or other new applications that might be helped by the use of carbon nanotubes.
